南亞地區最近發生七點六級大地震，造成重大破壞和人命傷亡，災情最嚴重的巴基斯坦和印度已有數萬人死亡，受傷及失蹤人士更不計其數，無數災民痛失家園。民建聯主席今天去信巴基斯坦和印度駐香港總領事（信件內容附後），向兩國政府及人民轉達深切慰問。

We are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of lives and catastrophic damage caused by the recent earthquake. In support of the appeal made by the Hong Kong Red Cross, the DAB will be launching fund-raising activities in Hong Kong starting from October 11, 2005 . All donations will be transferred to the Hong Kong Red Cross in support of the emergency relief for the earthquake victims.
Please convey to your Government and the people of Pakistan our condolences for the victims and their families.
