In 2004, the Alliance decided to split the Wan Chai branch from the Hong Kong Island East branch, established in 1993, making it the last two branches to be established, along with the Islands branch, which was established in the same year. The Wan Chai branch officially held its founding reception on May 15, 2004, with founding member Mr. Sun Kai-cheong serving as its first chairman.
