In 1992, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) had only four district branches, namely Hong Kong Island West, Kowloon Central, New Territories West, and New Territories North. By 2004, the number of district branches had increased to 18. Each branch has a branch chairperson appointed by the Central Committee (renamed the "Executive Committee" in April 2021), and a Branch Chairpersons' Meeting composed of the branch chairpersons was established in 2003 to strengthen communication between headquarters and branches.
