DAB Strongly Condemns UK Gov official Rosie Winterton for repeated smear and slandering Hong Kong
We strongly condemn UK Gov Official Rosie Winterton for her wrongful and untrue remarks concerning Hong Kong and her slandering.

In particular, we are opposed to her false remarks on the Hong Kong Alliance case, which smears and tramples upon Hong Kong’s judicial system. Furthermore, her groundless excuses for UK Gov's release of so-called six-monthly report on Hong Kong are refuted.
Hong Kong is an inalienable part of China, and Hong Kong affairs are purely China’s internal affairs. No foreign government or politician has any right to interfere. The Hong Kong Alliance case was adjudicated by the Hong Kong Court in strict accordance with Hong Kong law and legal procedures, our Court upholds rule of law, judicial independence and impartility in the entire course of the legal proceedings.

Rosie Winterton, however, distorted the facts and smeared the Court's verdict. She attempted to interfere with Hong Kong’s judicial proceedings through political pressure and to discredit Hong Kong’s rule of law. Her baised, untrue remarks and actions taken is against international law and the basic norms of international relations.
In addition, after the establishment of HKSAR in 1997, the UK Government continues to publish the so-called Six-monthly Report on Hong Kong, turning a blind eye to the fact that UK Gov by no means has any sovereignty, any governing power over Hong Kong. The UK Government also ignored the fact that “One Country, Two Systems” has been successfully implemented since the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR.
The biased remarks and untrue content smears Hong Kong and our National Security Law, it constitutes interference in China’s internal affairs. Rosie Winterton’s attempts to defend the UK Government’s wrongful acts further showcases their ulterior motives of undermining China’s development by interferring with Hong Kong affairs.
Hong Kong is poised to thrive and prosper, recently we hosted the APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting, which fully demonstrates Hong Kong’s status as an international financial centre. Our Hong Kong society is stable, our economy continues to develop, residents live and work in a safe, stable and peaceful environment with contentment , and the rule of law has always been bedrock of our city. These are facts which are not tainted by smearing or any false accusations
Sovereignty is inviolable, and Hong Kong’s judicial independence must not be interfered by any external forces. We firmly support the Hong Kong judiciary in exercising its judicial power in accordance with the law and we are strenuously opposed to any form of interference in Hong Kong affairs by any external forces.
