DAB delegation visits Liantang Port, proposes smarter clearance and extended service hours
29 August 2026

The DAB yesterday led a delegation to Shenzhen's Liantang Port to examine the latest developments in cargo transformation, passenger flow management, industrial synergy, and community supporting facilities, and put forward policy recommendations for deepening Hong Kong Shenzhen integration.
The delegation included Mr. Chan Yung, Convenor of Hong Kong Deputies to the National People's Congress, Chairman of the Legislative Council Panel on Constitutional Affairs, and DAB Vice Chairman; Mr. Cheung Ki tang, DAB Deputy Secretary General; Ms. Chik Kit ling, DAB Standing Committee Member and LegCo Member; Mr. Chan Pok chi, DAB Executive Committee Member and Member of the Development Committee, and LegCo Member; Ms. Kwok Fu yung, DAB Executive Committee Member and LegCo Member; and Mr. Lau Kwok fun, Vice Chairman of the DAB Development Committee.

Since the opening of passenger services in 2023, Liantang Port has seen a surge in cross‑boundary traffic, with daily passenger flow now reaching 93,000 — over three times its original design capacity. Chan Yung suggested extending the port's operating hours to better align with the travel patterns of residents on both sides. He also emphasised the importance of leveraging the port's unique “directly accessible” advantage to attract more business and leisure travellers, further enhancing its appeal and convenience.

As the “joint development of the Control Points” becomes a key focus of Hong Kong‑Shenzhen cooperation during the 15th Five‑Year Plan period, the DAB will continue to promote deeper collaboration between the two governments across logistics, trade, culture, tourism, and livelihoods. Together, we aim to build a model zone for deep integration and inject fresh momentum into the high‑quality development of the Greater Bay Area.
