DAB expresses condolences at consulate, presents donation for flooding disaster in Nepal

A major landslide struck the Rasuwa district of northern Nepal on 26 August, causing significant casualties and leaving many missing.

In a spirit of solidarity, a number of donors have contributed a total of HK$200,000 through the DAB to support disaster relief efforts in Nepal. DAB Chairperson Chan Hak-kan, together with Vice‑Chairperson Holden Chow and Standing Committee Member and Ethnic Minorities Committee Chairperson Cheng Wing-shun, presented the donation cheque yesterday afternoon to Mr. Satish Gurung, Acting Consul General of Nepal in Hong Kong, for onward transmission to the relevant Nepalese authorities. The Consulate expressed its sincere gratitude to the PRC Central Government for providing emergency relief supplies and professional search‑and‑rescue support to Nepal and the affected areas along the China‑Nepal border, and also thanked the HKSAR Government for making contingency funds available from the Disaster Relief Fund for emergency response.

The DAB mourns the loss of lives in this tragedy and extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families. We also wish the injured a full and speedy recovery as they rebuild their lives.
