DAB launches "Hong Kong Hidden Gems" English video series to showcase ICH and Tell Hong Kong's Story
28 October 2026
DAB Vice-Chairman Holden Chow and Secretary-General Chris Ip today announced the launch of a new English video series, “Hong Kong Hidden Gems”. Comprising 12 episodes, each featuring an item of Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage (ICH), the series aims to showcase the rich and profound Chinese traditional culture to the world.
Holden Chow said, DAB has been committed to our mission of “Connecting the world” . Following the 2024 launch of the English current affairs programme “DAB Talkbox”, “Hong Kong Hidden Gems” represents a new initiative under this effort. Through ICH inheritors demonstrating their craft and sharing their insights, the series will present the appeal of Chinese culture, tell the stories of China and Hong Kong, and introduce the blend of culture promotion and tourism, in order to create alternative cultural tourism experience.
Introducing the title, Chris Ip said "Hidden Gems" refers to the ICH treasures hidden within Hong Kong, which should be unearthed and passed on so that the world can learn about a lesser-known side of the city. He expressed deepest gratitude to the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office for its strong support, including introducing ICH items and recommending inheritors for filming.
The 12 episodes cover dragon head paper crafting, Hong Kong-style milk tea, neon lights, shrimp roe noodles, mahjong tile making, qipao tailoring, dim sum and bamboo steamers, HK bakery(pineapple buns/egg tarts), herbal tea, blowing candy, Chinese opera head accessories craftsmanship and Guangcai canton porcelain. A dedicated Instagram page has been set up, with episodes rolling out across social media platforms from October 2026 to early 2028.
