DAB marks 35th anniversary with proposals spanning five areas
10 July 2026

The DAB today marked its 35th anniversary since its founding on 10 July 1992. Chairperson Chan Hak-kan, joined by party leaders and LegCo Members, hosted a simple celebration to express gratitude for the community's steadfast support over the past three decades.

This year holds particular significance, as it coincides with the launch of the country's 15th Five‑Year Plan and Hong Kong's first‑ever five‑year development plan. During a meeting with the Chief Executive yesterday, the DAB put forward a comprehensive set of proposals spanning five key areas — Northern Metropolis development, industrial diversification, quality of life, liveable cities, and connectivity — covering more than 50 specific recommendations, including the reintroduction of tenants purchase schemes, labour policy adjustments, public healthcare fee reform, and SME support.

DAB Vice‑Chairman Chan Han‑pan said the proposals were the result of extensive consultation with all sectors, drawing on input from 20 LegCo Members, 147 District Councillors, 18 district branches, the Young DAB Branch and the Business and Professional Branch. The recommendations are organised into eight chapters covering the economy, people's livelihoods, the Northern Metropolis, industrial diversification, global connectivity, and patriotic education. The DAB will continue to engage with the community and make timely recommendations to the Government as Hong Kong moves forward.
